1st Asian University Boxing Championship: Day Four 06 May 2016 | in Boxing

Dushanbe, Tajikistan - at 15: 00 on the afternoon of 6th May, the semi-finals started as scheduled with the category of 51kg, 60kg and 75kg. Four pairs of women boxers from Tajikistan, Thailand, Mongolia and Afghanistan fought for their first matches, 6 of whom will be qualified for the finals. Among them, CHORIEVA Mavzuna from Tajikistan was the bronze medal winner during the London Olympic games, which was the only medal won by Tajikistan delegate. She was the heroine of her country. Another world famous boxer was RAKSAT Chuthamat from Thailand. She was the bronze medal winner of 2015 Doha World Boxing Championship and the silver medal winner of 2015 South East Asia Games held in Singapore.

The first men's match began at 15:30 between ZEINULINOV Ertuhan (KAZ) and ALIBEKOV Almanbet (KGZ). Almanbet was tenacious, but not as strong as Ertuhan. In the end, He lost the fight by 0:3. USMONOV Bakhodur (TJK) won the next match by withdrawal of his opponent, BATTUMUR Misheelt (MGL), who injured in the previous competitive match with NAKANO Mikito(JPN).

The most interesting match of today was between OSMONOV Temirlan (KGZ) and AKIYAMA Yuta (JPN). Yuta was fast and active. He was used to straight punches. However, Temirlan was not the glass jaw. He moved stably and seemed stronger than Yuta. Their fight was so intensive. It took one minute for the judges to give the final score after the match, which was very difficult, because they were both excellent boxers. Temirlan won this match.

The last match finished in the first round. AZIZODA Doryush (TJK) won NODIR Rezvari (IRI) within 5 seconds by a technical knock-out.

The finals will at 15:00 on the afternoon of May 7, followed by Awarding Ceremony and Closing Ceremony, which will be live broadcasted by the National TV Station of Tajikistan.

During the competitions, most of the teams and international referees were interviewed by the local TV station. Considering that this was the first international university championship, they were eager to know the feedback of the participation, which could help them to accumulate more experience and get ready for more AUSF events and even World University Championships endorsed by International University Sports Federation.
