Chang Nyeong - On 24th July, it was the first competition day of Criterium and Individual Time Trial. With light rain in the morning, 1st Asian University Road Cycling Championship began with Criterium race at 09:00. Riders raced 15 laps in Criterium course located in the central of Chang Nyeong. Riders worked hard and did their best to win the event.
The 1st place of Criterium went to Kyeong Ho Min from Korea National team with 33’43’’86, Kuroeda Saya from Kanoya University and Batmunkh Maralerdene from Mon-Altius University were the runner-up and the 3rd place respectively. The 1st place of team in Criterium was Japan National team with 1:41’24”84, Kanoya University team (Japan) and Korea National team were the runner-up and the 3rd place respectively.
In this event, Japan, Korea and Mongolia emerged as top three winners.
Individual Time Trial started at 11:00. Three riders from each team were allowed to register and compete in this event. The course was 5.2km with a steep uphill at the end of the course and every rider began their race at 120 seconds interval. Altanzul Altansukh from Mon-Altius University won the gold medal with 09’16’’41 and Kyeong Ho Min got the silver medal with only 1 second difference from the winner. Batmunkh Maralerdene from Mon-Altius University won the bronze medal. The 1st place of team in Time Trial was Mon-Altius University with 29’17”41, Kanoya University (Japan) and Korea National team were the runner-up and the 3rd place respectively.
As said by the riders, the race course was very challenging, especially the uphill slope, which is very steep. The riders finished the racing in a good result.
