New Taipei, Chinese Taipei – Sep.5th was the last preparatory day before the championship officially starts. 80 players and 34 officials from 7 teams have registered for this event, which was remarkable for the first try. According to the previous draw conducted on Aug. 26th, all teams were divided into two groups in preliminary round. Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, China, and Hong Kong China were in Group A. Macau China, Thailand, and Korea were in Group B. From the morning to the late afternoon, the teams went to the venues for practice, and all were prepared to the best and eager for the victory.
On 14:00 sharp, the Head of Delegation Meeting started with the attendance of AUSF Assessor and also Delegate to the Championship Mr. Preecha PRAYOONPAT, CTUSF Deputy Secretary General Mr. Hong-Chi LEE, Technical Delegate Ms. Si Man LEI and the heads of 7 participating teams. On behalf of AUSF, Mr. Preecha PRAYOONPAT greeted all the delegates. He emphasized this was the first women’s basketball championship and wished all the girls can enjoy the matches and do their best. Then Mr. Hong-Chi LEE welcomed all the participants and wished them a pleasant stay in Chinese Taipei. Next the floor was given to Ms. Si Man LEI, who announced the technical committee members, the rules applied to the championship and confirmed with the heads of the jersey colors.
A Press Conference was held afterwards. One team sent a representative to tell their stories and their expectations. What was worthy was that Chinese Taipei Team was consisted of potential players selected for 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade. Taking this tournament as the prelude, they were keen to face all possible challenges and aimed for the champion.
On 16:00, the referee meeting was chaired by Ms. Si Man LEI. All the 18 referees, including 6 accompanying referees and 12 local referees, are FIBA qualified and quite experienced. With a strong referee team, the championship is sure to be fair and wonderful.
On 19:00, a Welcome Banquet was held on the banquet hall in the official hotel. AUSF Secretary Genaral Mr. Kenny CHOW, Vice President Mr. Kunning CHEN, Assessor Mr. Preecha PRAYOONPAT and CTUSF Vice president Mr. Jia-Yean CHEN, Secretary General Mr. Ching-Yu TSENG as well as all the participants were invited. After one day hard practice, now all the girls were relaxed. Without any prior arrangements, each team went on the stage and performed singing and dancing, showed another side except for the basketball skills.
Tomorrow is the first completion day, and Opening Ceremony will be held between the games at around 17:30. The detailed schedule is as below:
