3rd Asian University Football Championship: Day 5 06 Sep 2016 | in Football

Taebaek, Korea - on Sep. 6th, 10 teams fought for their rankings, with Iran and Japan B left, competing for the Champion tomorrow afternoon.

 

Korea C vs. China

The match between Korea C and China marked the 5th competition day by fighting for the 7th place. At the beginning, China moved very fast and organized a few offences, threatening Korea's gate. However, Korea B was more competitive and made a successful shot at 12th minute. Afterward, China changed the tactics and focused on the defense. Even though, Korea C got the second chance to shoot at the 42nd minutes. After Korea C's second goal, China got over-pressured which gave its opponents another change to kick in the third ball and ended the first half by 3:0.

In the second half, Korea C shot 3 more and ended the match by 6:0.

Korea B vs. Japan A

The match started at 12:00 between Korea B and Japan A, fighting for the 5th place. Both teams were quite competitive with fast offenses and tight defenses. Player No. 9 from Japan A made a good shot and kicked in the first goal at the 23rd minute. However, Korea B caught up just after 6 minutes. In return, Japan A immediately organized several challenges in front of Korea's gate but were blocked by the goal keeper. The first half ended with 1:1.

In the second half, Korea B scored the first goal. Japan A fought back hard, and made several threatening offenses. The match got pretty tough, especially after one player from Korea B got the red card. The situation seemed to be in favor of Japan A, but Korea B defended tightly and moved even faster. Finally, Korea B won Japan A by 2:1.

 

Korea A vs. Oman

The winner would gain the Bronze medal of this Championship. This match was live broadcasted by Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), attracting more audiences.

At beginning, both of them teams were well organized and gave the opponents a lot of challenges and pressure by a few shootings. Meanwhile, both of them made tight defenses and left no chance for the opponents to score. At the 20th minute, the 2 teams scrumpled in Oman side One of the Oman player passed the ball back to the goal keeper, who passed the ball directly instead of stopping the ball. Unfortunately, the ball was passed directly to the Korean player, who gave a direct kick and the ball was in. Thanks to the Oman goal keeper, Korea team scored the first goal. After that, Oman team got some chances to challenge the Korean goal keeper, but failed in scoring. A few minutes before the first half ended, Korean team got a chance of direct free kick, which made the match in first half end with 2: 0.

The fight got more intensive in the second half. In the never-giving-up spirit, Oman scored 2 goals and tied the match till the end, sending the match to penalty shoot-out. All the audience held the breath and prayed for their favoring team.  Both of the teams were eager to win. In the first five balls, Korea goal keep blocked the second ball, but the forth shooter missed the ball and made the penalty shoot-out tie again. In the 6th ball, Oman goal keeper successfully block the ball and ended the penalty shoot-out with 5: 4.
