New Taipei, Chinese Taipei –On the second day of 1st Asian University Women’s Basketball Championship, Macau China team had a rest day, and 6 other teams all went through a more competitive match. Every team got more serious on the court and more familiar with each other.
Thailand vs. Korea
After one day resting, Korea team presented the first match facing Thailand. Both of the teams sent the leading players for the starting lineup. Thailand guard SUPYEN made the very first shot and then team Korea stole the ball and Minseon KIM succeeded in getting a 3-point. Then Thailand forward BUNSINPROM made 3 consecutive 2-points, however, their advantage did not last long and Korean star shooter Minseon KIM made another 3-point and then a 2-point, helping Korea to catch up. In the first half, the two team went very close and Thailand played so hard to get only one point ahead of its rival. In the second half, Thailand widened the score advantage by 2 experienced centers who managed to grab several excellent rebounds. “Thai team surprised us a lot, their performance is beyond our impression.’’ said Korean coach Kim Tae-you. Finally Thailand conquered Korea by 78:64.
Mongolia vs. China
As the most important guard got hurt in the previous match, Mongolian defense was quite weak and the match was totally controlled by China. The Chinese team captain WANG Rong got 20 points and was absolutely the MVP of this single match. Two star centrals WANG Jinhui and JIANG Tong also got 14 points respectively and secured the victory by 44 points ahead of their opponent. Tomorrow China will fight against the host Chinese Taipei. “Chinese Taipei team is very strong, but we will try best and we have the faith in ourselves.” Said WANG Rong after the match.
Hong Kong China vs Chinese Taipei
Chinese Taipei got another huge victory with effective defenses. All the host team players had chances to involve in the game to prove themselves. With absolute advantage, Chinese Taipei won over Hong Kong China by 95:48. However, as coach Cheng Hui-yun mentioned, players needed to focus on details. ‘’They should know how to adjust the mode of attack in facing different rivals,” she said, “Excellent players cannot always rely on coaches’ reminding.’’
