6th Asian University Men's Basketball Championship: Finals 26 Sep 2016 | in Basketball

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – Sep. 24th was the last day of the championship. The finals began with the 5th place competition in the Buyant Ukhaa Sport Palace.

Macau, China vs. Korea

The match began at 13:00. Macau used smart strategy and blocked the offences of Korea No. 6 Player-Hong Seokhyeon. Hong Seokhyeon tried fast breaks, but with the strong defense of the opponent, he made 5 personal fouls and contributed only 8 points. No. 1 Player Lai Ka Tong whose nickname was" Yao Ming" from Macau China contributed 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks to the team. No. 93 Player Lo Hip Meng from Macau also made great performance within 21 minutes and contributed the highest points of 18. Finally, Macau China defeated Korea by 107-77.

Hong Kong, China vs. China

There were 3 key players from China who were injured in the previous matches. Therefore, Hong Kong took the lead from the very beginning. However, China strived to catch up. By the end of 2nd period, the scores were tied by 43:43. In the 3rd period, Hong Kong was so eager to win. They made more fouls, which gave China chances for free throws. Lucky for China, they swept the gloom of lose to Hong Kong on Sep. 22nd and took every chance to fight back. No. 10 Player Zheng Yi from China was definitely the MVP for this match. He contributed 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. With 93.3% of free shows, he pointed 35 scores for the team. In the end, China got 10 more points than Hong Kong, China and stopped the match by 92:82.

Mongolia vs. Chinese Taipei

The competition for the champion drew lots of attention and the venue was almost full. Most of the audiences wore yellow hats to show support to the host country team-Mongolia, cheering and applauding for the team whenever they tried to make offenses. Though Chinese Taipei took the lead around 10 points in the 1st period, Mongolia played really hard in the 2nd half and gradually tied the scores. Both teams moved fast and were good at 3-point field goals. In the 3rd period, Mongolia began to win. Duluun Enkhbat, Player No. 6 from Mongolia was the hero for his people and his team. He played on the court for 45 minutes and contributed 5 free throws, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. In the last period, the gap was impossible to fill and Mongolia finally ended the match by 92:79.
