AUSF Executive Committee Had the Last Meeting of the Term 2010-2016 Before Elective General Assembly 19 Nov 2016 | in Executive Committee Meeting

Xiamen, China- On November 19th, Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) Executive Committee of this term held the last meeting before the 9th General Assembly, during which the new Executive Committee will be elected. Senior Vice President Omar A. AL-HAI (UAE), Vice President CHANG Hosung (KOR), Vice President CHEN Kunning (TPE), Secretary General Kenny CHOW (HKG), Vice Secretary General XUE Yanqing (CHN), Treasurer SEETOW Cheng Fave (SIN), Assessor Hisato IGARASHI (JPN) and Auditor HA Wong Yong (KOR) attended the meeting. Director of the AUSF Secretariat SHEN Zhen (CHN), Director of AUSF Education and Development CenterXIE Jun (CHN) and the Legal Consultant FENG Jinwen (CHN) were invited to be present as well.

 

Mr. Omar AL-HAI opened the meeting and welcomed all attendees for their presence. He hoped the meeting could be productive and everybody would have sufficient chances to express themselves. As the host, Mr. XueYanqing expressed his warmest welcome to meeting delegates for a visit in China and wished them a pleasant stay.

  

 

In his report, Kenny CHOW briefed on the Asian University Championships held this year by naming 7 championships, including 2nd Asian University Futsal Championship (in Kazakhstan), 1st Asian University Boxing Championship (in Tajikistan), 2nd Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship (in Macau, China), 3rd Asian University Football Championship (in Korea), 1st Asian University Women’s Basketball Championship (in Chinese Taipei), 6th Asian University Men’s Basketball Championship (in Mongolia) and 2nd Asian University Cycling Championship (in Korea), whose number has hit an all-time record throughout the years. He expressed his sincerest gratitude to the AUSF EC representatives and the AUSF Secretariat for their dedications to making all championships so successful.

The sub-region chairmen reported on the regional activities. It was decided that more personal contact should be made in future, especially with the Southern Asian countries. Then Ms. Xie Jun reported the Center activities in 2015 and 2016, as well as the challenges their Center was confronted throughout the programs.

The final reports on 2016 Asian University Championships were made for reviews and reflections. Certain Gordian knots have been put forward and fruitfully argued during the meeting, such as the mechanism for game participation, referee issues, network construction, establishment of efficient contacts, etc. The agreements and conclusions drawn will give constructive advice to the championships to be held in the years to come.

The AUSF 9th General Assembly will be held from Nov. 20th to 21st. Up to now, 25 countries and regions sent their representatives and finished the mandate checking. They would decide on a new Executive Committee from 2016 to 2022 by voting. Besides representatives from AUSF member federations, FISU President Oleg Matytsin and the Presidents of other FISU Continental Federations will be present.
