AUSF President presented in FISU - FASU Strategic Dialogue 19 Mar 2017 | in

KigaliRwanda- On March 19th, 2017, FISU- CUSF Strategic Dialogue was held in Kigali, Rwanda. It was the second try-out after it was launched by AUSF and FISU and tested last November in China during AUSF General Assembly. Over 50 delegates from 20 African countries and regions gathered in the Kigali conventional Village to discuss FASU’s future. FISU president Oleg MATYTSIN, 1st Vice President Leonz EDER, Assessor Leopold SENGHOR, EUSA President Adam ROCZEK, and AUSF President Mr. XUE Yanqing were present.

The dialogue was themed as “45 Years of FASU, Where do we go from now”, and was divided into 4 sessions.

The first session was presented by FISU on its future plan and advice to FASU. FISU President Mr. Oleg MATYTSIN announced that FISU would concentrate its efforts on improving relations with all counterparts of the university sports movement, and would support CUSF more in the future. Then FISU first Vice President Mr. Leonz EDER and CDSU Director Mr. Laurant Briel jointly demonstrated on FISU’ strategy that would be implented in FASU: Africa Lead by African, African solution for the African issue, and FISU must be a partner.

   

In the second session, FASU President Dr. Malumbete RALETHE illustrated on FASU events. To involve more universities’ directly participating in FASU Games was his core appeal and policy. Next, EUSA and AUSF were invited to share the good practices. EUSA President Mr. Adam ROCZEK elabarated on how the European University Games (EUG) was held and he pointed out the key to a successful multiple sports was the wide participation and involvement of the universities. AUSF President Mr. XUE Yanqing then came to the stage, and introduced how AUSF functioned to fulfill its responsibilities. He then shared AUSF brand-name championships and educational programs. Besides, he also analyzed the challenges and opportunities AUSF faced and looked forward to cooperationg more closely with FASU in the future. FASU Executive Committee echoed that African countries also confronted with the same challenges, and AUSF had provided some very practical measures to solve the problems.

Session Three mainly focused on FASU’s NUSF policies. FASU Secretary General Ms. Peninnah KABENGE, Internal auditor Mr. Liberty MAIDZA, and FISU Vice President Mr. Leopold SENGHOR shared their thoughts on NUSF management, governance and accountability respectively. Session Four was FASU’s reflection on the future. All the delegated were invited to voice their opinions on the how FASU could develop better.

 

Through this dialogue, AUSF learnt about FISU’s CUSF strategy, and exchanged with other CUSFs on event management and good practices. It was widely acknowledged the Dialogue was the current best way for FISU-CUSF communication. FISU decided to regularly conduct the Dialogue in all Continental University Sports Federations.
