Beijing - Asian University Sports Federation is announcing the start of the bidding for the 2018 and 2019 Asian University Championships.

In order to speed up the cultivation of the brand-name events, AUSF has adopted the strategy of pre-determining the sports for the AUCs. A few months ago, a survey was carried out among the member federations to determine the popularity of the different sports at the university level. Also, by taking into consideration other factors like existing brand-name events, team versus individual sports, FISU’s strategy on sport development, etc., the following list of compulsory sports has been proposed:

Events in even years: Basketball 3x3, Football, Basketball, Taekwondo, Table Tennis

Events in odd years: Basketball 3x3, Beach Volleyball, Badminton, Karate

As one of the new highlights of AUCs, AUSF requests that all AUCs to include an AUSF-NUSF Workshop, which is a one-day educational program to promote knowledge sharing and interaction between the athletes, coaches, technical staffs from home and abroad.
