Taipei city - 21st August 2017, AUSF Executive Committee (EC) held its second meeting of 2017 in Taipei city on the occasion of 29th Summer Universiade, following up the decisions of last EC meeting and planning for the future. As special guests, FISU President Oleg Matytsin, FISU first Vice President Leonz Eder, FISU Assessor Chen Tai-Cheng, FISU-Oceania President Martin Doulton, FISU Director of CDSU Laurent Briel, CTUSF President Chiang Han-Sun were present at the Meeting.

President Xue Yanqing opened the meeting with appreciation to Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation (CTUSF) for organizing this meeting and congratulations to both FISU and CTUSF for the splendid opening of 29th Summer Universiade. He also expressed his gratitude to other EC members for their voluntary but accountable efforts.

On behalf of FISU, President Matytsin highly praised the efforts of Asia in promoting university sports development, saying that "FISU considers Asia as a main part of FISU, because Asia sets a positive example for the other Continental University Sports Federations (CUSFs) not only on hosting the most events of FISU, but also on how to realize unity, how to clear the vision and so on". He also mentioned the Presidential fund, through which the members could gain more support from FISU with practical and meaningful projects.

FISU first Vice President Leonz, also as the chair of FISU CDSU, who is in charge of development of CUSFs, highly appreciated the contribution made by AUSF for FISU since its founding. He focused that AUSF always took the leading by first organizing the FISU-CUSF Strategic Dialogue, first hosting the FISU World Cup in China, first realizing the cross-continent cooperation, and so on. He said, "you work so hard to provide the Asian youth with the opportunities to practice sports". He especially mentioned the MOU signed between FISU and CUSFs, who shared the same goal. It was echoed by AUSF President Xue, who said together with FISU, AUSF will experience a faster development.

The one-day meeting was quite productive and fruitful, by reviewing and amending the existing regulations on Financial Costs, Procurement Policy, Bidding Guideline of AUCs, Regulations on AUCs, etc. With the fast development of AUSF, it is of great necessity to perfect the regulation to improve the efficiency and standardize the working procedures. The amendments of Regulations on AUCs touched the detailed technical parts of the Championship, including the participating units, competition format, ITO's nomination, etc. The outline of AUSF Strategic Plan raised the question on how to guarantee the steady development of AUSF and reidentified the strategic goals of AUSF in a new situation after more than 20-year growth. Also the meeting listened to the final reports on Asian University Archery and 3x3 Basketball Championships held in Malaysia this April and received the progress reports of 2017 Asian-Pacific University Futsal & Cheerleading Championship to be held from 18 - 25 September in China and FISU-NUSF Seminar to be held from 9 - 14 December in Australia. As one of the most important topic, the AUSF Football Cup (2018 - 2024, 4 consecutive editions) and Basketball 3x3 2019, both as the qualifying tournaments of FISU league were attributed to China and Chinese Taipei.

As President Xue Concluded, the main goals of AUSF at this stage are to keep the unity and harmony among Asian members, which is the unique character of AUSF, to explore the brand value and build up flagship events, and to increase the activeness to host and participate in AUSF events. By realizing these goals, it should be common dream of all the AUSF members.
