13th National Students Games: Celebration of the International University Sports Day in China 19 Sep 2017 | in NUSF,Sub-Regional

Hangzhou, China- On the evening of September 16th, the 13th National Students Games of China successfully concluded in the beautiful lakeside city Hangzhou. 5,966 athletes from all 34 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions participated and strived in 10 sports for 987 medals. Mr. TIAN Xuejun, Vice minister of Ministry of Education, as the OC Executive Director, announced the conclusion of the Games. During the Games, 35 Students Games records were renewed by 30 student athletes in 49 matches, which was very encouraging for all the participants.

         

The Games was held according to “Solidarity, Progressing, Civilization and Education”, and was themed as “Advancing with great determination, motivating with unyielding efforts”. It was the first time to combine the school games and university games, the same time and the same place. During the games, a variety of events were held, such as the National Schools & Universities Sport Symposium, Schools & Universities Sports Scientific Report Meeting, Symposium on National Schools &Universities’ Sport Venues Open to Republic and National Youth Campus Football Photos Exhibition, etc. These various events enriched the Games.

As one of the key elements, the series activities to celebrate the “International University Sports Day” were organized on different occasions. FISU’s mission on this day is to inspire the University Sport Movement on a global scale, and promote the health and wellbeing through sports and physical activities of all levels. This philosophy and mission was fully passed to the schools, universities, what is more, to the students.

In the following, Federation of University Sports of China will continue to seek the opportunities to promote this special day and pass the concept to more and more Chinese people in the sporting world.
