Beijing, China- on the afternoon of Nov.17th, a high-level delegation composed of 20-plus MASUM (Malaysian University Sports Council) council members led by its Chairman Prof. Dato' Dr. Abdullah Mohamad Said paid a visit to FUSC headquarter and AUSF Office in Beijing. MASUM is the counterpart of FUSC in Malaysia, a federation composed of 20 public universities under the Ministry of Education of Malaysia. AUSF President and FUSC Senior Vice President Dr. Xue Yanqing, AUSF vice Secretary General and FUSC Senior Vice President Shen Zhen, General Coordinator Laura Yan warmly welcomed the delegation.
Dr. Xue sincerely welcomed Prof. Mohamad Said and his delegation and highly complimented MASUM’s dedication for Asian university movements. 1st Asian University Archery Championship and 3rd Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championships were held this April in Malaysia, which was organized in a high level in terms of facilities, event management, ITOs invitation, etc. He also appreciated Dr. Hanafiah Ayub’s dedication as the AUSF Assessor and as the University Sports and Technical Committee Chair.
Prof. Mohamad Said first appreciated Dr. Xue and AUSF’s trust. MASUM who is the Chair of ASEAN University Sports Council, would like to take advantage of this platform to get more countries involved in AUSF and be more active in AUSF events. He said that, in the future, Malaysia will continue to take a responsible role in the federation.
Besides that, as the members of AUSF, both MASUM and FUSC had the intention to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the field of university sports, by hosting Friendly, exchanging students or staffs, etc. They expected to host more joint activities in the future. During this visit, both of the parties signed an MOU to institutionalize the cooperation.
Before visiting FUSC and AUSF office, MASUM delegation also paid a visit to Beijing Sport University, learning the experiences on elite athlete cultivation, visiting the national teams’ training center and sport scientific research center, etc.
