FISU-NUSF Seminar: Day One 11 Dec 2017 | in FISU-NUSF Seminar

Gold Coast, Australia- On Dec. 11th, 2017 FISU-NUSF Seminar officially started its first day at 8:30 in the morning. Commencing with a video welcome message from FISU President Oleg Matytsin, encouraging the delegation to work together to the FISU strategy, the seminar continued with presentations from FISU Oceania President Martin Doulton and Vice Chair of FISU Development Committee Shen Zhen.

AUSF Assessor Kairat Zakiryanov engaged the delegation with an overview of AUSF and its active role in FISU events including Universiade’s, World University Championships and Leagues. Mr. Doulton then provided an insight into FISU Oceania and how it engages with its members for sport development at universities.

Representatives from the Federation of University Sports of China, Malaysian University Sports Council, Macau University Sports Federation and the Student Sports Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan generously shared their event hosting experience.

Australian University Sport’s Sport and Operations Manager Natalia Broom then took the delegation through a best practice example of event management with an overview of how the Australian University Games are conducted.

“The seminar is already proving to be an excellent opportunity for each federation to learn best practice and share information with each other,” said Mr. Eder.

After lunch, the delegation were involved in a case study on how to run an event where each federation started to think about concepts for the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) on 20th September.

Day one ended with a tour of Bond University facilities and an Australian BBQ with a presentation of some Australian wildlife including a crocodile, snake, lizards and a wombat.
