FISU-NUSF Seminar: Day Four 15 Dec 2017 | in FISU-NUSF Seminar

Gold Coast, Australi- On Dec. 14th, last day of the Seminar, which started with a presentation from Nepal. In the following, Donna Spethman made a speech on FISU-WADA Anti-Doping E-Textbook, which was developed as a legacy project from Gwangju Universiade.

Uniroos Deputy Chef de Mission, Siobhan James shared her experience on Australia Uniroos engaging with Australian Sports Commission. Siobhan  shared the experiences of AUS on event organization, research on athletes performances, etc. and also introduced AUS Elite Student-Athlete Pathway Program. In 2016 Rio Olympic, 58% of the Australian athletes were student athletes.

      

AUSF General Coordinator Laura Yan made a presentation on "How to be more active in AUSF". In her presentation, she briefly introduced AUSF and showed the statistics of AUSF events and the number of participants in a vivid way which explained why AUSF began to fix the calendar in even/odd year. She reiterated that, "there are two main tasks for AUSF, one is the buildup of brand name championships, the other is to activate the member federations", as quoted from AUSF President Xue Yanqing.

After morning tea, delegations from 19 countries and regions contributed their ideas on how to celebrate International University Sport Day (IDUS) in 2018. From 2017, AUSF Yearly Magazine will start a new column on the celebration of IDUS in AUSF member federations.

     

The Closing Luncheon started around 12:30 am in Princeton Room of Bond University. Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Tim Brailsford made a farewell address. He believed that the past few days has been an advancing and developing opportunity for all. " It is magnificent that you come from 19 countries and regions, and spending a lot of time to meet people, create networks and make friends.

Dr. Omar made a thank-you speech on behalf of AUSF. " Everything in Gold Coast is great. It is the first Senimar between AUSF and FISU Oceania. No matter on this side or that side of the continent, we are one."

Mr. Shen Zhen thanked FISU Oceania and AUSF for the devotion and dedication of the event on behalf of FISU. Participants received diplomat and gifts from FISU Oceania President Martin Doulton and AUS CEO Don Knapp. The 4-day Seminar officially ended.
