MSSF will Organize 13 National University Championships in 2018 05 Feb 2018 | in NUSF

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia - on January 22, 2018, the annual Executive Committee Meeting of the Mongolian Student Sports Federation (MSSF) was held in Ulaanbaatar city at the “O’Castle” National center of Culture and Resort. FISU Treasurer and MSSF President Bayasgalan D., MSSF Vice-President Batsaikhan Kh., MSSF Secretary General, FISU CIC Vice Chair Jargalsaikhan D., and other 8 EC members were present at the meeting. According to the meeting agenda, more than 10 items were discussed such as MSSF 2017 annual report, results and success of the participation of Mongolian athletes in 2017 Winter and Summer Universiade, the organization of the 13th Mongolian National Universiade Games 2017, MSSF 2018 working plan and the most important item was the MSSF calendar for National University Championships 2018.

Traditionally, before the meeting yearly award “Best student-athlete of 2017” is awarded to the judo player Mr. B.Erkhembayar, Summer Universiadesilver medalistin Taipei and basketball player Mr. B.Batzolboo,champion of the FISU 3x3 World University league 2017 Xiamen, Chinaand AUSF 3x3 basketball Asian University championship gold medalist in Malaysia 2017.

MSSF in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports Authority, Student Union of Mongoliaand all the 13 national sports federations of Mongolia successfully hostedthe National Universiade Games Mongolia for the 13th time, in 11 sports disciplines, during three months, with three level of organization (university level, sub regional level and final stages), in the final competitions competed2,354 best student-athletes from 62 universities and colleges of Mongolia, involving 219 coaches, teachers and 274 referees. By the results of the National Universiade, the best 6 universities of the country were awarded. Mongolian National Institute of Physical education was honored as “Champion of the Universiade”, Mongolian University of Science and Technology won the 2nd place and Mongolian State University of Education won the 3rd place.

The Regional Universiade Games were organized by the MSSF in the Khovd province in 6 sports disciplines and approximately 300 student-athletes and representatives from 5 provinces, with the participation of China and Russian. In addition,  there was the 13th National Universiade Games, the European Sub Regional Universiade Games in Moscow, Russia and Asian Sub Regional Universiade Games in Tianjin, China. 600 Mongolian students from 50 universities and institutes and from more than 20 cities who studied abroad participated in several sport disciplines.

Winners of the National Universiade Games took part in 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade. 51 student-athletes, including 29 boys and 22 girls involved in 9 sports including athletics, swimming, judo, table tennis, weightlifting, billiard, fencing, golf and taekwondo, together with 25 officials, coaches and staffs. Mongolian athletes won 2 silver and 1 bronze medals in judo and billiards, and Mongolian Delegation achieved the 53rd place among 134 countries in the world. 14 delegates, including 10 athletes, 2 coaches and 2 staff in speed skating and cross-country skiing attended 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Finnally, two ski athletes were allowed to participate in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

MSSF sent 40 athletes and representatives in 3 sports of the AUSF championships 2017, including 3x3 basketball, futsal and cheerleading.

Mongolian men’s basketball team managed to achieve a historic success from being the champion in the FISU 3x3 League Final in Xiamen, China. In the 3rd Asian University 3x3 basketball Championship in Malaysia, Mongolia won the gold medal and achieved the right to compete and represent Asia in the Final. Also, Mongolian cheerleading girls won bronze medal and futsal men’s team awarded the 6th place from 9 teams in 2017 Asian-Pacific University Futsal and Cheerleading Championship held in China.

NUSF of Mongolia did a variety of works such as publication of the book "University Sport and Universiade" in Russian language in collaboration with  Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism. 10 delegates from national universities took part in FISU conference in Kazakhstan and Taipei, FISU Volunteers forum in Kazan, Russia, FISU-NUSF Oceania Seminars in Australia. Last year on the occasion of the International Day of University Sport, MSSF hosted the National University Sports and Volunteers Forum and more than 10 universities from Ulaanbaatar city to organize sports events, seminars and discussions.

Later on, the EC members had a hot discussion on MSSF calendar for National University Championships 2018. According to the regulation and rules starting from March of this year approved the 13 sporting event including athletics, basketball, cheerleading, chess, futsal, handball, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, tug of war, volleyball, wood ball and wrestling. The medal design NUC accepted the mission of 1,000 medals in total, together with the regional championships. It was planned that Mongolian athletes would participated in 8 sports in WUC and 2 sports in AUC in 2018. The decision to carry out a series of events for the celebrating the 70th Anniversary of FISU, 60th Anniversary of World Universiade as well as 30th Anniversary of the establishment of  MSSF.
