Beijing, China – on 2nd Feb. 2018, the press conference of FISU University World Cup & AUSF Football Cup was held at the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing, China. It was attended by FISU President Oleg MATYTSIN, Vice Minister of Education of China Mr. TIAN Xuejun, FISU Vice President Mr. YANG Liguo, FUSC Senior Vice President Mr. XUE Yanqing, Vice Governor of Fujian Province Mr. TIAN Xianjin, Vice President of China Football Association Mr. LI Yuyi, Party Secretary of Jinjiang Mr. LIU Wenru, and other representatives from the top universities of China, enterprises, organizations, etc. The Press Conference was chaired by Mayor of Jinjiang Mr. ZAHNG Wenxian. The main media from home and abroad, national and provincial, like Xinhua Net, People's Daily, Reuters, Jinjiang Daily, to name just a few, broadcasted the event. Even the CCTV broadcasted the news on the same evening. FISU and AUSF, together with the football cup reached the public all over the world.  

In 2017, Jinjiang, together with FUSC, signed a contract with FISU and AUSF, which endorsed Jinjiang to host the 4 editions of FISU University World Cup and of AUSF Football Cup respectively in odd year and even year from 2018 to 2025. Mr. LIU Wenru briefed the media on this event, including the goals, the concept and how to realize it, etc. In 2018, as the first edition of AUSF Football Cup, 16 top men’s teams and 8 top women’s teams from Asia will meet each other in Jinjiang from 29 Oct. to 11 Nov. 2018, the best season in Jinjiang. The top 2 teams of each gender will be qualified for FISU University World Cup to be held in 2019.

In his address, Mr. TIAN Xuejun expressed his sincere gratitude to FISU for attributing this wonderful event to China. He said China was full of confidence to present a splendid event for the youth all over the world, with the strong support of central and provincial government, steady and rapid growth of Chinese Economy and strong football atmosphere in and off campus. Mr. Oleg Matytsin highly appreciated the active involvement of Ministry of Education of China, China Football Association, FUSC and Jingjiang city. The joint effort made this event staged. He said , “football is the most popular sport around the world nowadays. FISU initiated the University World Cup in 2017 and hoped to make it an exclusive football gala for the worldwide college students. The project of FISU University World Cup is indeed unique in many aspects, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the other members of this great team for their vision and their commitment to university sports.”

When asked by the media on how FUSC will support Jinjiang for the upcoming events, Mr. Xue Yanqing, who is also AUSF President, promised that the FUSC would be the general coordinator and offer support in every aspect including technique, human resources, security etc., and make sure that the event would follow the rules and protocols of AUSF and FISU.
