Let’s Celebrate IDUS 2018! 15 Jun 2018 | in

Beijing, China- In less than 100 days, we will be embracing the annually International Day of University Sport (IDUS) on Sep. 20th. Since 2016, IDUS has become an inherent part of FISU agenda, which brought together thousands of people in cities and university campuses all over the world.

The International Day of University Sport which was officially proclaimed by UNESCO in 2015. “It falls within the framework of a multi-disciplinary project which covers both physical education and sport. IDUS focuses in particularly on the role universities play in teaching young people social and leadership skills through sport.”

Member federations can celebrate this special day with sports events, educational activities, cultural events and festivals. It is encouraged to have operational plans ahead. The celebrations should be fun and attractive, so that people will engage and be encouraged to participate. The events should also encourage students to be active daily.

As continental federation of FISU, AUSF set a good example in previous activities. Last year in Asian-Pacific University Futsal & Cheerleading Championship in China, 6th Asian University Men's Basketball Championship in Mongolia (2016) and in many other sports events, activities were well-arranged to celebrate IDUS. Moreover, during the joint FISU-NUSF Seminar in Gold Coast, Australia, delegations from 19 countries and regions contributed their ideas on how to celebrate International University Sport Day. Also, AUSF Yearly Magazine started a new column since 2017 on the celebration of IDUS among AUSF member federations.

Sep. 20th  is coming. Let’s celebrate IDUS 2018!
