4th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship: Day 2 12 Jul 2018 | in 3 on 3 Basketball

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- 12th July was the last competition day of the qualifying round. After 8 matches of women's teams and 7 matches of the men's teams, 8 teams of each gender won their seats in the quarter-final.

In the men's group, the match between Civil Aviation University from China (which was the 2nd runner-up in 2016 Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship held in Macau, China) vs. Citi University from Mongolia drew a lot of attention. Both teams were tall and strong, quite competitive on court. Mongolia moved fast and shot in the first 2 scores in several. But China did not show any weak, and fought hard for every score. Tension on the court raised rather unbearable when the score tied at 16:16 while only less than 2 minutes left. Audiences made screaming and shout out for their favorite team. At that time a foul was made by Mongolia, giving China chances for penalty shot. In the end, China defeated Mongolia by 19:17.

In the women's group, Dhurakij Pundit University from Thailand and University of Jaffna from Sir Lanka ignited the court the minute the match began. Sri Lanka played fought actively. While Thailand moved fast, defended tightly and kept the leading for a long time. In the end, Thailand won and got the ticket to the quarter-final.

As the champion of 2017, both in 3rd Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship and 3x3 FISU World University League Finals, Chinese Culture University from Chinese Taipei performed quite stable and defeated Islamic Azad University from Iran by 17:6.

The Day 3 competitions will start at 10am 13th July, with quarter finals in the morning and semi-finals in the afternoon. Also the eye-catching shootout contest for men and women will also be staged in the afternoon.
