Kuala Lumpur- 14^th July was the last competition day. Finally, men’s team from Civil Aviation University of China and women’s team fromChinese Culture University(Chinese Taipei) dominated the Champion. Together with men’s team from Payam E Noor University (Iran) and women’s team from Dhurakij Pudnit University(Thailand), the four teams will be present at 3x3 FISU World University League Finals this November.

3^rd Place Game (W)

Tsinghua University(China) vs. Dhurakij Pudnit University(Thailand)

Tsinghua played more active than last match. Learning from the failure to Chinese Culture University(Chinese Taipei) yesterday, Tsinghua took good advantage of their height, making several shots from the outside line and took the lead from the beginning. Finally, Tsinghua won out by 21:8.

3^rd Place Game (M)

Srinakharinwirot University(Thailand) vs. Citi University(Mongolia)

A fierce attack was made by Mongolia once the match began. After several scores of Mongolia, Thailand was too eager to revenge but had some block shots by Mongolia. To catch up the scores, Thailand adjust their strategy and almost tied the match. However, in the last 3 minutes, Mongolia made several shots outside the 3-point line and fixed the score at 21:17.

Shoot-out Contest Final

The shoot-out Contest was a mixed tournament. 2 qualifiers of each gender run for the best shooter. In the end, #9 Meng Xiang from Huaqiao University won out while #7 Tan Kim Yeow from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College(Malaysia) and #10 Qi Xuexuan from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics (China) ranked 2^nd and 3^rd place.

Final Game (W)

Chinese Culture University(Chinese Taipei) vs. Tianjin University of Finance and Economics(China)

Both teams defended tightly and the only score made in the first minute was a penalty shot from Chinese Taipei. Both of the 2 teams were at similar time in terms of tactics, height and strength. They left no chance for each other to shoot inside. Both of the teams sought the chances to shoot outside. When the final whistle sounded, the game was tied at 13:13. The winner must be decided by extra time. During the extra time, the team who gained the first 2 score will win. Finally, it was the defending champion Chinese Culture University team who dominated the 4^th edition again by 15:13.

Final Game (M)

Civil Aviation University of China vs. Payam E Noor University(Iran)

The men's final blew up the heat on the court instantly. Both team got big guys while Iran's players were even higher. China was smart to pass balls and ran outside the 3-point line to deplete the opponent physically. China took the lead to the final whistle and ended the match by 15: 13.

Awarding and Closing Ceremony

The Awarding and Closing Ceremony were held immediately after the finals. Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan, MASUM Chairman, Ms. Huang Chia-Ju, AUSF Assessor, ambassadors from China, Iran and Philippines were present at the ceremonies.

In his closing speech, Mr. Saifuddin said he was a bid fan for basketball. He hoped all the student athletes could have a chance to enter into a higher stage through their efforts. Ms. Huang said in her speech that she congratulated all the teams on their wonderful performances. For a championship, there would be only one champion in the court, but anybody would be the winner off court. On behalf of AUSF, she expressed heartfelt appreciation to MASUM, Ministry of Education of Malaysia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and Malaysia Basketball Association for the wonderful organization. She said MASUM as the founding and active member of AUSF played an important role in Asia. AUSF expected more events to be held in Malaysia in the future, which would benefit the development of university sports in Malaysia as well.

As the next host, Mr. Wu Cherng-Dean the Vice Mayor of Kinmen County from Chinese Taipei received the flag from Ms. Huang. He welcomed all the teams to Kinmen in 2019! See you in Kinmen 2019 for 5^th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship! By Ready!
