Kobe, Japan –on 18^th July 2018, AUSF ExecutiveCommittee had its first meeting of 2018 in Kobe, Japan, where the 2018 World University Karate Championship (WUC Karate) is going to be held. 12 out of 15 EC members were present at the meeting. Mr. Mitsuo Tsukahara, the Chairman of Japanese University Sports Board (JUSB) was invited to the meeting as well, who was the five times an Olympic Gold Medalist of gymnastic.

On behalf of AUSF, President XUE expressed his sincere gratitude towards JUSB for this meeting and wish the WUC Karate a great success. As the host, Mr. Tsukahara welcomed all the EC members.

The Executive Committee listened to the report of Secretary General which reviewed the jobs done since last Steering Committee in Macau, China. In the Treasurer’s report, the financial statement of AUSF was reported and FISU’s guideline on subsidy allocation was fully explained. Through the reports of 4 sub-committees, including Education Committee, Technical Committee, Regional Development Committee and Public Relation Committee, the progress on each aspect were reported in details, including the working plan of Educational projects, the perfect of AUC regulations, the cooperation with AFs and FISU, etc.

As one of the main issues, the sport calendar of 2019 was fixed. For the cultivation of brand name events, the future OC showed the interest in hosting the sports continuously for at least 2 edition. Also, it was decided that all the AUSF championships would conduct doping test.

In 2018, 4^th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship just concluded in Malaysia on 14 July. The CISCA led by Treasurer Seetwo Cheng Fave reported the advantages and disadvantages in terms of promotion, logistic arrangements, technical issues, etc., which shared the experiences for the events in the following. In the following, the progress report of AUSF General Assembly and FISU-CUSF Strategic Dialogue to be held in Malaysia from 19-20 October 2018 was made. The dialogue was themed with “the social, economic and political impact of University Sports, and sub-themed with “the relationship between big event marketing and sports branding”, “the long term value of sports in university students”, “the challenges of hosting of sports events in major cities” and “doping in Sports”. The keynote speakers will invited in the following month. Besides that, sub-regional representatives were encouraged to work out a proposal for the celebration for #IDUS in his sub-region.

As one of the brand name events, the AUSF Football Cup will be held in Jinjiang this October. As scheduled, the draw was done during the meeting, which was live broadcasted via AUSF page on FACEBOOK.

The meeting ended fruitfully and productively, thanks to the efficient preparation of Steering Committee held on 17^th July. After the meeting, AUSF EC members were invited to the Opening Ceremony of 2018 World University Karate Championship.
