KELME 2018 AUSF Football Cup: 10th Competition Day 10 Nov 2018 | in Football

Jinjiang China- after the men semi-final match on the evening of Nov. 8th, teams from Korea and Thailand will fight for the championship in the men's final.

Following the fate of Beijing Normal University women’s football team, another famous university team from China, Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) was denied a place in the final by Bangkok Thonburi University (BTU) from Thailand. The match ended 2-1in favour of BTU.

In the first 30 minutes, both teams played very carefully, attempting to reinforce their defense at the beginning. However, in the 32nd minute the deadlock was broken by a controversial goal, scored by Player No. 11 of BTU, Poramet Arjvirai. Seven minutes later, BIT star player Sichen Li scored with a long range shotto equalise.

In the 71st minute, Player No. 9, Wongsakorn Chaikulthewinfrom BTU received a through pass from the middle and gained a one on one chance with the goalkeeper. He smashed the ball into the goal for a final score 2-1 to BIT.

In the after match interview, the BIT star player, Sichen Li expressed disappointment with the result but felt that the team had tried their best. They will now focus on contesting for the 2nd runner-up position in the match that will be taking place the day after tomorrow. The BIT head coach echoed his comment but felt that because both his right and left backs have been suspended, he will have make changes to his game plan for the match.

 

In the Stadium of Yangzheng Middle School, Myongji University (MJU) from Korea stopped Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) from Hong Kong, China5-1 in the other men’s semi-final.

The MJU team took the initiativeright from the start of the game and stunned the opponentto score the first goal of the match in the 18th minute with a header from a cross. This was despite Poly U's very stubborn defense. The second MJU goal resulted from a defense error.

Poly U pulled goal back in the 40th minute through a fast counter attack. However, in the 42nd minute, Poly U’s player No. 11was shown a 2nd yellow card and that led to his dismissal.

    

In the second half, Poly U with only 10 players had to play defensively but they were still no match for the fast attacking MJU team who managed another two goals to make the final score 5-1 for a place in the final to meet BTU.
