KELME 2018 AUSF Football Cup: a perfect ending promised a bright future event 12 Nov 2018 | in Football

Jinjiang, China- On Nov. 10th, the Victory and Closing Ceremony started right after the last match finished in the stadium of Jinjiang Sports Center. The men’s final between Bangkok Thonburi University from Thailand and Myongji University from Korea feasted 17000 audiences in the court and tens of thousands audience online by a final score of 8-7.

On behalf AUSF, President Xue Yaning presented a gift to OC Chairman LIU Wenru, who is also the Invited Vice President of Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC), and Secretary of CPC Jinjiang Municipal Committee. In the farewell speech, Dr. Xue mentioned that after 12 days’ intense competition, the 2018 KELME AUSF Football Cup came to a conclusion. Without the immense commitment and hard work of Federation of University Sports of China, Jinjiang Municipal Government, Asian Football Confederation, Chinese Football Association, the OC as well as all the volunteers, the Cup wouldn’t be a fluent running. He also congratulated all the teams who have overcome themselves and made great progresses in the due course.

The ceremony continued with the prize awarding to top 3 teams and individual awards. Thailand became the biggest winner who took both trophies of men’s champion and women’s champion. The host China also did a pretty good job of winning the 3rd place of men as well as runner-up and 3rd place of women. Korea took the men’s runner-up. The top two university teams in men’s category and the top university team in women’s category won their tickets to FISU University World Cup - Football Finals 2019.

Jinjiang will continue to host AUSF Football Cup 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024, which is the biennial event and the qualifying games of the FISU University World Cup - Football Finals. Through this edition, AUSF and Jinjiang Organizing Committee have accumulated so much precious experiences and we are confident that 2020 AUSF Football Cup will be better.
