Tour the Outlying Island : Kinmen 09 May 2019 | in 3 on 3 Basketball

Kinmen, Chinese Taipei- After a busy day of fierce competition, the organizing committee of the 5th AU3x3C organized a cultural program for the participants to learn about the local history and culture on May 9th. Over 60 people participated in the activity.

Jhaishan Tunnel - one of the most impressive places in Kinmen – was the highlight of the culture program. As the first time to attend the culture program, Yao Chen of Yunnan Normal University from CHN thought it was an interesting experience during the championship.“ The rural area has beautiful scenery and fresh air. I am looking forward to visiting again with my family and friends,” she said.

In the early years, people in Kinmen were forced to leave their hometown to go to Nanyang to make a tough living. When they became successful, they contributed funds back to Kinmen to help with the development of their hometown. It was the origin of Jinshui Primary School.

Hui-yun Cheng, the coach from Chinese Culture University (CCU), believed that players could expand their horizon from visiting local historical relics through this experience. She has been to Kinmen for training twenty years ago. But this time, she set foot on Kinmen again and led her team to compete in the tournament. “The local rich are willing to share their resources and build a school to contribute to their hometown. This is a very touching gesture!” said by Hui-yun CHENG after she learnt about the impressive history of Jinshui Primary School.

On 10th May, the competition will resume and all the teams will strive their hardest to acquire book their places in the semi-finals. This will not be easy at all as only 8 groups can advance to the semi-finals.
