Pool game’s on, 3x3 Asian players rock Kinmen! 08 May 2019 | in 3 on 3 Basketball

Kinmen, Chinese Taipei– The pool games of 5th Asian University Basketball Championship officially started on 8th May with 18 matches at Kinhu Gymnasium.

Three female teams got two wins in a row on the first day, two from Chinese Taipei, one from Iran. Women's 2017 & 2018 winners Chinese Culture University (CCU) try to create their three-peat road by overpowering 21-3 the University of Macau (UM) at the beginning.

Another team from TPE, University of Taipei (UT), Yi-wen MO beat the clutch shot 14-13 to China's Yunnan Normal University (YNU) to gain a thrilling victory. "Don't be afraid of having physical contact! We need to take advantage of skills to win the following matches against all stronger competitors." She said.

Islamic Azad University (IAU) from Iran beat China's Yunnan Normal University (YNU) with 14-13 and National Mongolia University (NMU) by 19-12.

       

As for Men's competition, Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute from Mongolia who stormed to crab the title of FISU University World Cup 2017–lost their first match 16-17 to National Chengchi University (NCCU) from TPE, but quickly got a win 21-18 back with defeating Taylor's University (TU) from Malaysia.

Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) from Indonesia was good at both offense and defense sides, kept hot-hand to throw two points in a pool game. They defeated the University of Macau (UM) by 21-16. "I think we did good, but we still can improve, such as coach ask us to attention in our free throws." Pangersthio Rivaldo (UPH) said.

        

In addition to the main event, a three-point shootout contest was arranged between matches. Men's preliminary took place at 6 p.m. Two winners were born and have qualified for the final. Ulzii-Orshikh MYAGMARSUREN of Mon-Altius Physical Institute from MGL shouted seven balls with 2.7 seconds left, Che-ting LIN of Fu Jen Catholic University (FJCU) from TPE did six shots with 4.1 seconds left.
