3x3 University Champions of Asia! It’s time for Mongolia and Chinese Taipei 11 May 2019 | in 3 on 3 Basketball

Kinmen, Chinese Taipei – From Asia to the world, Mongolia's Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute as well as Chinese Culture University (CCU) from TPE won the Men's and Women's Champions of 5th AUC 3x3 respectively on 11th May in Kinmen. They will be participating in the FISU University World Cup in Xiamen this year with runners-up Fu Jen Catholic University (FJCU) from TPE and Islamic Azad University (IAU) from Iran. 

Women's Final: CCU made three-peat successfully

FISU World Cup winner of 2017, CCU from TPE achieved a hatrick of wins in the 2019, 2018 and 2017 AUC3x3." The goal of coming to Kinmen is to win the title, and I was very touched by our players to achieve the goals we set," Coach Hui-yun CHENG said. As expected, they played well to beattheir formidable opponents IAU from IRI by 15-6. A very strong defense is the main reason for CCU's victory. The other factors are the good rebound by Yi-ching SU, and the accurate 2-point shooting of I-ting TAI.

Kimiya YAZDIAN TEHRANI from IAU(IRI) said, "Although we can't take glory in this championship, we are still satisfied with the result We will still be able to represent Asia in the FISU University World Cup 3x3 in Xiamen. Kimiya also had great praise for the opponent, "CCU is a very good team!"

Men's Final: Mon-Altius won the title first time

To win their first title in the AUC 3x3, team Mon-Altius from Mongolia made an aggressive attack once the match began. Both teams had tall players, but Mon-Altius showed more strength. They extensively picked and rolled to score the points, and deployed one-on-one defense to tire the opponent at the same time. Mon-Altius dominated the match by winning 20-12.

Mon-Altiustrained specifically for 5 months for this competition. "Although the seniors had already won FISU's champions in 2017, we are still eager to win the crown to prove ourselves," Gan-Erdene GANTSOLMON said excitedly.

FJCU'S Yang LIU said, "We are now more familiar with 3x3 rhythm of play than before. We expect to put up a better performance against world-class opponents in Xiamen."

In addition to the main event, a three-point shootout contest took place at 4:20. The winner is Ulzii- Orshikh from Mon-Altius(MGL), who scored 11 points.

The Awarding and Closing Ceremony were held immediately after the finals with attendance of 19 teams from 9 countries and regions. AUSF Delegate Kit-long LOU was grateful to all the participants, particularly support from FIBA, Kinmen County and CTUSF. Finally, he congratulated all the teams on their excellent performances in his closing speech.

3rd: University of Taipei (UT), TPE
