Farewell Ceremony of Mongolian Delegation to 30th Summer Universiade 27 Jun 2019 | in NUSF

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia- the Farewell Ceremony was organized on 25 June 2019 in the Central Library of National University of Mongolia for the coming 30th Summer Universiade which will be held on July 03-14, 2019 in Napoli, Italy. Mongolia will send 33 athletes, 13 coaches and officials from 7 sports for archery, shooting, judo, taekwondo, tennis, swimming and table tennis to participate the event.

Farewell Ceremony was attended by Mr. Bayasgalan D., President of Mongolian Student Sports Federation (MSSF) and FISU treasurer, Mr. Andrea De Felip, ambassador from Embassy of Italy in Mongolia, D.Jargalsaikhan, CIC Vice Chair of FISU, Mr. Badar-Uugan E., Secretary General of Mongolian National Olympic Committee, Mr. Odonbayar Ts., head of state administration and finance division of the Physical Culture and Sports Authority Mongolia, delegates from Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports of Mongolia (MECSS), Board members of MSSF, seven national sports federation heads, rectors and PE teachers of universities, and more than 10 national media organizations presenting their sincere greetings to all delegation members and wishes to athletes and leaders.

During the ceremony, Ms. Nandinzaya G., Kazan 2013 SU silver and bronze medalist, athlete of national shooting team, and Mr. Temuujin P., RIO 2016 Olympic participant, athlete of national taekwondo team, took the oath on behalf of all Mongolian competitors. MSSF handed all athletes sport uniforms of Spanish clothing brand “KELME” for Summer Universiade 2019. Mongolian national flag was handed over to the flag holder Mr. Tsogtbaatar Ts., RIO 2016 Olympic participant and athlete of national judo team.

      

The athletes were provided with the financial support from the MECSS and Physical Cultural and Sports Authority. Also, Embassy of Italy to Mongolia, “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC, Golomt bank, “MIAT” JSC, KELME and sports associations’ proper assistance was received.

A generation of student-athletes from Mongolia began participating in the Summer Universiade, held in Budapest, Hungary in 1965. Since then, Mongolian athletes have competed 21 Summer Universiades in total. Mongolia won a total of 53 medals at the Summer Universiade, including 11 gold, 16 silver, and 26 bronze from 9 sport disciplines. NUSF Mongolia is actively working on the regular participation of athletes in Summer Universiade over the past years.

A feature of this farewell ceremony was celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Mongolian Student Sports Federation. The MSSF was established on June 25, 1989 by the decision of the National Committee for Sports and PE of Mongolia, Mongolian Youth Federation, Mongolian student union and Ministry of Education.
