Gambang, July 24 - The Opening Ceremony of Collegiate Basketball Training Programme 2019 was held together with the Opening Ceremony MASUM Sports Carnival 2019 at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP).
The Basketball Collegiate Program 2019 is taking place at Universiti Malaysia Pahang in conjunction with the 45th Malaysia - China Diplomatic Relations Anniversary, organised by MASUM with the cooperation of the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia. The program has started on July 20 until August 15, 2019 and involves student-athletes from the Public University of Malaysia.
The coaches from China, have a vast experience in training basketball teams in China. They are Mr. Sun Dahu (Head Coach) and assisted by 2 assistant coaches namely Ms. Li Hongyuan and Mr. Tang Wanke.

A total of 36 student-athletes, including 24 male student-athletes and 12 female student-athletes, are involved in this training program. This training program is a result of the MASUM and FUSC MoU which was signed in 2017 in Beijing, China. The idea of this program was triggered by YB Dato' Saifuddin Abdullah, Malaysia Foreign Minister and H.E. Bai Tian, China Ambassador to Malaysia, who were present during the 4th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship Closing Ceremony 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.
