Cheerleader's night: 1st Round of AUCC 24 Aug 2019 | in Cheerleading

Seoul, Republic of Korea- It's a cheerleading weekend night in Seoul City. The 1st Round of Asian University Cheerleading Championship 2019 (AUCC) began from 8pm and lasted to past10 pm on 24th August. Team Japan was in the spotlight for demonstrating high-level performances throughout.

Japan has won the title of ICU World Championship in Hip Hop in 2019 and also the top spot for Hip Hop Doubles in 1st World University Cheerleading Championship last October in Poland so they are favorites for this competition. Their powerful and well coordinated performances not only captivated the audience but was also reflected in the preliminary results: Japan is leading in four divisions, including three of Performance Cheer after the first round. Team China is currently in the first position for Pom doubles.

According to the regulation, the score reflects 40 percent of total score in the 1st Round and 60 percent in the 2nd Round. An electronic scoring system is being used for AUCC for the first time in this event and this has allowed the results to be displayed on the screen clearly, making the competition more exciting.

The Judging Criteria for the Team Cheer has more details about stunt techniques. The final score is the sum of Cheer Criteria, Partner Stunts, Pyramids, Basket Tosses, Tumbling, Flow of Routine/Transitions, and Overall Presentation, Crowd Appeal, Dance scores. Above all, Team Malaysia took advantage of  Large Coed Elite, and Singapore for Large Coed Premier temporarily.

International Cheerleading Union (ICU) 's safety rules have significant impact on the scores and results of the 1st Round. Several teams received penalty points, although they scored well.  Therefore, the bottom-ranked teams will likely have to close the gap in the 2nd Round on 25th August.
