AUSF Online Executive Committee Meeting 21 May 2020 | in Executive Committee Meeting

Following the first online EC meeting in April, AUSF Executive members met again on ZOOM for the second time on 20th May when the COVID-19’s spread still moves on, making face to face meeting not possible to happen in the meantime.

The meeting heard reports of all chairs of the AUSF sub-committees in terms of developing a feasible work plan to adapt the current extraordinary circumstances. AUSF events for the second half of the year were also evaluated carefully considering the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped the General Assembly (GA) and FISU-AUSF Strategic Dialogue could be held as scheduled this November.

“Extreme care and caution are needed to decide when and whether to resume action without risking the health and safety of all the people involved”, said Mr. Yanqing XUE, President of Asian University Sports Federation.

It can’t be predicted what the situation will be in the coming months, so the preparation for the GA should be scheduled in advance. Therefore, a working group was set up for this purpose. Moreover, the projects of 2021 were discussed as well. It is commonly agreed that projects of 2021 will likely be limited due to over-packed calendars of international sport organizations, like IOC, FISU etc.

To cope with the uncertainty, AUSF Executive Committee members will meet online at the end of June, closely monitoring the situation.
