Mongolian University Sports Got a New History Book 09 Jun 2020 | in

Jargalsaikhan D., (Ph. D) Secretary General of Mongolian Student Sports Federation (MSSF) and Vice chair CIC of FISU wrote and published a new book named “The Historical Development of the University Sports in Mongolia”. The editors of the book were Mr. Bayasgalan D., the President of the MSSF, Treasurer of FISU and Mr. Batsaikhan Kh., Board member of MSSF.

The book tells the history of university sports in Mongolia since the founding of the Mongolian Pedagogical College in 1922. It emphasizes that students who internationally enrolled in schools were main contributors for the development of modern sports in Mongolia. In addition, readers will find the historical photos, materials, data, and documents of participation of Mongolian student-athletes in Universiade Games since 1965 in Budapest, Hungary. The author cited from the news and articles about Mongolian student-athletes achievements for the total of 41 sports events at Universiade, World and Asian University Sports Championships.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Sports of Mongolia recommended to utilize this book as a textbook in physical education courses for approximately 160,000 students about at 100 universities and colleges in Mongolia. The book is intended for common use by sports federations, clubs and other sports organizations, their teachers, trainers, mentors, methodologists, parents, researchers, leaders of physical education and sports, sports journalists, fans and citizens. It can also be used by foreign national university sports federations as a template for writing their own history books whereas key sub sections were written in English.

Mr. Battulga Khaltmaa- the President of Mongolia, Mr. Oleg Matytsin- the President of FISU and Minister of Sport of Russia, Mr. XUE Yanqing- the President of AUSF and other international and domestic distinguished and honored people sent their greetings to Dr. Jargalsaikhan by congratulating him with the book publication.

It is a great honor of this book is being published to the celebration of remarkable historical moments among Mongolian and International University Sports. This book is dedicated to mark the following important events:

  • The 98th anniversary of the University Sports Movement in Mongolia (1922–2020),
  • The 60th anniversary of the First National University Games of Mongolia (1959–2019),
  • The 55th anniversary of the participation of Mongolian athletes in the Universiade (1965-2020) in Budapest, Hungary,
  • The 30th anniversary for the establishment of the Mongolian Student Sports Federation (1989-2019),
  • The 70th anniversary of the FISU (1949-2019),
  • The 60th anniversary of the Summer World University Games - Universiade (1959-2019) and,
  • The 28th anniversary of the AUSF (1992- 2020).

To write this book, Dr. Jargalsaikhan D. visited the archives of FISU office in Brussels, Belgium (2008) and AUSF office in Beijing to receive and collect news, information, photographs, documents and other materials about Mongolian delegations. He wrote this book for more than six years while he was doing research, analyzing and collecting a large amount of foreign and domestic materials by investing a lot of work.

In 2014, the author published his first book “University Sports and Universiade” which contained the history of world and continental university sports development, the operations and events of International and Asian University Sports Federations, the Summer and Winter “Universiade” games and the World University Championships.

This time, the book includes only materials on the history of Mongolian university sports. The book has six chapters including:

1. One. Early Historical Development of Mongolian University Sports (1922-1988)

2. Two. Mongolian Student Sports Federation, Its Thirty-Year Operations and Events (1989-2019)

3. Three. Mongolian Student-Athletes’ Performance and Their Achievements for the World Universiade Games (1965-2019) 

4. Four. Mongolian Student-Athletes at the World University Championships (1988-2019)

5. Five. Achievements of Mongolian Student-Athletes in the Asian University Championships (2005-2019)

6. Six. History of Asian and World University Championships held in Mongolia.

Draft of this book was supported by MSSF and FISU, and it was published with the assistance by the leading national company “Erdenes-Tavantolgoi” JSC (Executive Director of this company Mr. Gankhuyag B. Ph.D). The book was designed by “Sod Press” LLC and published by “Admon Print” LLC. It is a great creation with 404 pages and color print 50,5-page work on A4 with 2000 copies.
