Iran players grabbed the current top two positions 29 Dec 2020 | in Chess

After the Day 2 games of 2020 Asian University Chess Championship Men’s Category on 28th December, International Masters Khalil Mousavi Seyed and Mersad Khodashenas of Iran grabbed 1-2 positions respectively. The final three rounds will take place today at 9am (GMT+4) at Chess.com. Closing ceremony is at 10am (GMT+4) on 30th December. 

Mousavi, 22, a Sports Science student at Islamic Azad University, beat Indian IM Al Muthaiah in the 6th round to lead 5.5 points. Khodashenas, 22, also a Sports Science student but from the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, beat IM Ayan Akhmetov of Kazakhstan to follow a half point behind in second slot.

Teammates FM Enkhnar Enkhbaatar, 23, from the Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute and IM Uurtsaikh Agibileg, 19, a Business student at the National University of Mongolia, bring up the Mongolian team with 4.5 points each. Tied with 4.5 points each are IM Ayan Akhmetov of Kazakhstan and IM Al Muthaiah of India.
