AUSF Executive Committee met again online 30 Jun 2022 | in Executive Committee Meeting

 

On June 29, AUSF Executive Committee (EC) members met online again to evaluate the AUSF events to be held in the second half of 2022, and listen to the progress reports for the celebration of AUSF 30th anniversary.

President XUE opened the meeting with appreciation to the efforts made by the EC members in following up with the decisions of the last EC meeting and coordinating national university sports federations to enter into the Chengdu 2021 World University Games, and pointed out that more efforts are called for the sustainability of Asian university sports movement and achieving the goals of this year.

In his report, the Secretary General Kenny CHOW reviewed the work done in past 3 months, including the preparation of AUSF events in 2022, the communication with member federations, Asian Sports Federations, International University Sports Federation (FISU) and other continental federations. After that, he briefed EC with the recent developments of FISU right after attending first onsite FISU EC meeting in Brasilia since the COVID-19 pandemic, in terms of updates on World University Games, World University Championships and University World Cups. Chengdu 2021 World University Games had been postponed to the dates between 28 July and 8 August in 2023, but Age limit and eligibility of student athletes will be adapted to allow the participation of all the students that were eligible in 2021 and 2022. University World Cup-3x3 Basketball will be relocated to be held on 27 to 29 October in Istanbul Turkey. Mr. CHOW also highlighted the progress made by working groups for the celebration of AUSF 30th anniversary, including the draft of History book complied by Vice President Jargalsaikhan and the main visual design of the 30th anniversary completed and released finally under the guidance of the Media Committee.

Moving to the second half of the year, following the successful delivery of the online university chess championships in the last two years, 2022 Chess Championship Online will be continued from 17 to 23 December by Iran University Sports Federation, in cooperation with Asian Chess Federation.

As usual, IDUS celebration is a highlighted moment of the year. In 2022, IDUS in Asia will be celebrated together with the 30th Anniversary of AUSF, all member federations are encouraged to organize their individual activities and participate in the centralized event “AUSF Run Challenge”. The main visual design elements of AUSF 30th Anniversary distributed by the Secretariat of AUSF earlier are expected to be applied in their celebrating activities. In the meantime, a seminar on the Healthy Campus will be organized, as part of IDUS celebration. The Asian certified universities by FISU will be invited to exchange their best practices and successful experiences. AUSF member federations could have an opportunity to have virtual exchange with those presenters, with an aim to promote a healthy lifestyle among university communities and apply for the FISU Healthy Campus Program when situation allows.

In order to keep a close eye on the running of AUSF events, the next EC meeting will be held on 6 September.
