Splendid Opening of the 6th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship 11 Jun 2024 | in 3 on 3 Basketball

Zhoushan, China - The 6th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship comes to Zhoushan, China from 11-13 June, gathering 15 male teams and 9 female teams competing for the tickets of 2024 FISU University World Cup 3x3 Basketball. It is the first time for Zhoushan to host an international Championship. On the morning of 11 June, the Opening Ceremony took place at Lianhuayang Square, the main venue of the Championship.

Former Vice Minister of Education of China and AUSF Honorary President ZHANG Xinsheng, AUSF President and China Student Sports Federation (CSSF) President and Secretary General LIU Lixin, AUSF Senior Vice President and CISCA Chair of the Championship JARGALSAIKHAN Dorjsuren, Vice Mayor of Zhoushan Municipal People's Government HONG Bi, Secretary of the CPC Zhoushan Putuo District Committee and Organising Committee (OC) President SUN Zhilong, Mayor of Putuo District Mr. Xu Weibo, AUSF Executive Committee members, other guests from CSSF, local government, participating delegations and technical officials were present at the Opening Ceremony.

In the welcome speech, OC President Mr. SUN Zhilong extended his warmest welcome to all the participants coming from afar. He introduced Putuo District, Zhoushan City, and promised that the OC will serve the game at their best. He believed that it is a great opportunity to promote the development of 3x3 Basketball in China and in Asia.

After that, Dr. JARGALSAIKHAN Dorjsuren, on behalf of AUSF, expressed his gratitude to CSSF and Putuo, Zhoushan, China, praised the Putuo District Peoples Government for their hard work and expressed his expectations of this championship.

Dr. LIU Lixin, AUSF President and CSSF President and Secretary General announced the championship open, which put the opening ceremony into the climax.

Following was the oaths of player and referee representatives. The Opening Ceremony ended after the fruitful cultural performances themed as"Zhoushan Gong and Drum" and "living in love".

The opening game between the male teams of host Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) and Tainan University of Technology (TUT) from Chinese Taipei was moved to the indoor court due to the rainy weather. But it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the audience. After a tough and tight game, GDUT won with their outstanding performance on both ends of the court at 22:16.
