Zhoushan, China - After two days of intense pool competition, today saw the semi-finals and finals of the 6th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship. At last, Yunnan Normal University (CHN) won the Champion in Women’s tournament, while Guangdong Technology University (CHN) dominated in Men’s tournament. These two teams from China will go for the 2024 FISU University World Cup 3x3 Basketball.

Team event: 14 exciting games were staged for the Semi-finals and Finals

In Women’s tournament, the leading team in Group A Yunnan Normal University (CHN) and that in Group B University of Taipei (TPE) met the teams from their own country and region respectively in the Semi-final. Yunnan Normal University (CHN) defeated Huazhong University of Science and Technology (CHN) with overwhelming score 21:10. However, University of Taipei (TPE) lost to National Taiwan Normal University (TPE) at 13:21. Finally, Yunnan Normal University (CHN) won the title with 18:13.

In Men’s Category, Guangdong Technology University (CHN) won all their 6 games and dominated the court throughout the Championship. In the finals day, Guangdong Technology University (CHN) defeated two Mongolian teams namely Royal International University and Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute successively with the score 21:15 and 21:14, clearing their path to the FISU World Cup.

Before the final games, the finals for Shoot-out Contest for female and Slam Dunk Contest for male came into stage. All the participants showed their special excellent skills, feasted the audience with the charms of basketball and triggered the excitement inside the court.

2. UUGANBAYAR Chinguun - Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute (MGL)
3. TANTIWONG Chanpob - Bangkok University (THA)

A Closing Ceremony was held afterwards. On behalf of Putuo District People’s Government and the Organizing Committee, Mr. SUN Zhilong congratulated the winning teams and gave his best regards to all the participants. Then AUSF President Dr. LIU Lixin thanked all the people get involved in this Championship and declared its close. 

It is always hard to say farewell and let us meet in the Harbin in just a few days later at the 1st Asian University Wushu Championship.
