Indoor Asian University Archery Championship Kicks Off in Taipei 01 Sep 2024 | in Archery

The 2nd Asian University Archery Championship began in Taipei City on August 30, with recurve and compound ranking rounds. The event, which runs until September 1, has attracted 46 archers from 7 countries and regions, namely India, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Chinese Taipei.

In the first competition day, LIU Tai-Yen from Chinese Taipei secured a narrow victory in the Men's Recurve. Thai archer ARTSALEE Sataporn scored 286 points for each round and claimed the top spot in the Women’s Recruve. Two Indian archers, VIDYARTHI Chirag and KIRAR Muskan, led the Compound Archery respectively in Men’s Category and Women’s Category.  

Indoor archery is with significant differences from outdoor archery. In this championship, the shooting distance is reduced to 18 meters, and the target face is smaller at 12.2 cm. 24-year-old KIRAR Muskan from India stated, the challenge between indoor and outdoor archery is not extremely different if fundamental skills are solid. She commented, “For me, indoor and outdoor archery are quite similar. The most crucial aspect is maintaining proper posture while shooting.
