The 7th Asian University Men's Basketball Championship was officially opened on 2nd September in Taipei City and it will last to 7th September. Six teams from Asia are participating in this year, namely Hong Kong China, India, Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Philippines and Chinese Taipei.

The opening match featured Team Mongolia facing off against Team Philippines. Alfred Joseph Flores from Team Philippines shot with hot hands in the first half, scored 14 points and helped the team gain the lead. However, Team MGL changed their strategy in the last quarter, and turned the tables in the last two minutes, winning narrowly with 73:70.   

The second game was the host Team Chinese Taipei taking on India. Team Chinese Taipei showcased the strong momentum, they quickly widened the lead through systematic offense and defense, and took the victory of the game.
