Zhoushan, China - On May 21, the group draw ceremony for the 7th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship was held in Zhoushan, China. Delegates from university basketball powerhouses across Asia gathered under a tense and expectant atmosphere to witness this important moment to determine the group matchups.
The draw was divided into men's and women's divisions, adopting a two-round system: the first round determined the draw order, and the second round decided the group positions, fully ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the process.
Men's Group Highlights:
- Group A became the "group of death" with 5 teams, intensifying the competitive intensity in the group stage.
Women's Group Structure:
-All teams were evenly split into two groups of 5 teams each, with each team set to play 4 group stage matches, featuring a high-intensity schedule.
The opening ceremony will kick off at 6:45 PM on May 23, with the opening game featuring Tsinghua University’s men’s team against Tribhuvan University (Nepal). The increased number of group stage rounds will test teams’ physical endurance and tactical adaptability. Notably, the top four teams from the previous edition are all seeded in this year’s draw to avoid early powerhouse matchups. With 3x3 basketball’s inclusion in the Olympics, the competitive level of this tournament is expected to reach an all-time high, serving as a key platform for emerging talents in Asian university basketball.
