Zhoushan, China – After three days of intense competition, the 7th Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship concluded successfully in Putuo, Zhoushan, China on May 25.

The men’s final saw a thrilling showdown between the defending Championship Guangdong University of Technology (CHN) and Payame Noor University (IRI). Payame Noor University took an early lead with strong inside play, but Guangdong University fought back with accurate long-range shooting, narrowing the gap to 12-14. After an official timeout, both teams exchanged baskets, and Guangdong University tied the score at 18-18. In the final moments, Payame Noor University secured a dramatic 21-20 victory with a last-second shot, clinching the men’s title. “We thank China and the organizing committee. Everything was perfect, the services and facilities were excellent. We are very satisfied with this competition,” said Amirhossein Rezaeifar from Iran.

In the women’s final, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (CHN) demonstrated absolute dominance, defeating Chinese Culture University (TPE) 19-14 through powerful offense, defense, and tactical execution. Both champion teams will represent Asia at the FISU University World Cup 3x3 Basketball Finals.

The closing ceremony was held at Putuo District’s Donggang Gymnasium. Mr. LOU Kit Long, AUSF Regional Representative and CISCA Chair, delivered a speech and declared the championship closed. On behalf of AUSF, Mr. LOU Kit Long congratulated all athletes on their outstanding achievements and praised their spirit of fair play. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to technical officials, staff, volunteers, media, and stakeholders for their contributions. “Youth are the future of nations and the world. We hope this event inspires them to love sports, enjoy sports, and maintain a positive attitude toward physical activity,” he emphasized.

OC President Mr. SUN Zhilong remarked:“Over the past days, elite university basketball players from across Asia gathered in Putuo, delivering thrilling matches in the name of basketball. The success of this championship marks another milestone in Putuo’s vision to become a ‘City of Island Basketball Events.’ We will further deepen cooperation with AUSF, refine event quality through meticulous services, and explore innovative models for hosting diverse competitions.”

During the closing ceremony, awards were presented to the top teams. Payame Noor University (IRI), Guangdong University of Technology (CHN), and Shahid Beheshti University (IRI) claimed the men’s gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively. Huazhong University of Science and Technology (CHN), Chinese Culture University (TPE), and Shanghai University of Sport (CHN) secured the women’s podium finishes. Individual contests, including the long-shot and dunk competitions, were also organised.
