Macao, China - The 13th AUSF General Assembly completed successfully in Macao, China on 29 November 2025, bringing together AUSF Executive Committee members, AUSF Members’ Delegates, senior representatives from FISU, and Continental Associations Delegates. The main content of the Assembly included the overall reports on AUSF’s achievements over the past two years, the signing of MOUs with EUSA, FISU America and ArabUSF, and the sharing of the strategic plan for AUSF Future Development.

Speaking at the Assembly, AUSF President LIU Lixin acknowledged the dedication of AUSF EC members, member associations, federations, partners and colleagues, noting that their passion and commitment has continued to drive the growth of university sport across the continent.

Lou Kit Long, President of the Council of the Macau Universitarian Sports Association, welcomed participants as the host of the General Assembly. He emphasized, “AUSF General Assembly and FISU-AUSF Strategic Dialogue are not just gatherings and but are also proofs of our shared commitment to sports and education advancement, cultural exchange and sustainable tourism.”

A key highlight of the Assembly was the sharing of the strategic plan for AUSF Future Development. Seven strategic focus areas were introduced. These include expanding membership, establishing multi-tiered competition systems, developing university students’ programs, strengthening sports education platforms, building strategic partnership frameworks, promoting sustainable development initiatives and modernizing governance structures.

FISU President Leonz Eder expressed strong support for AUSF, stating that “AUSF has played an essential role in the global development of university sports and will continue to be a leading force.” He added that FISU stands firmly with AUSF in building a more connected, inclusive and forward-looking community and in contributing to a sustainable future for university sport in Asia.

Leonz further outlined several major upcoming events that will take place in Asia, including the 33rd Winter Universiade and the FISU Executive Committee meetings. These developments reinforced the Assembly’s essential messages of unity and a forward-looking vision.

A similar message about the power of being together was also delivered by Luciano Atayde Costa Cabral, Honorary President of FISU America. He stated, “We have big challenges, but together we can do everything.” He added that learning from each continent will create opportunities to develop new sports and broaden the scope of university sport. Together, they reaffirmed the commitment of AUSF, FISU and FISU America to continue strengthening their shared efforts to advance university sport across Asia, reinforcing a common vision for future collaboration and growth.

Mr. CHEN Dongsheng, Chief of the China Student Sports Federation, reviewed the development history since the AUSF Secretariat's relocation to Beijing in 2004 and pledged that, standing at a new historical starting point, China Student Sports Federation  will continue to uphold the spirit of "cultivating oneself to benefit others and contributing to the wider world," further strengthening its support for AUSF.
