Almaty celebrates 100 Days Countdown to the 2017 WU Today, on 21 October, Almaty celebrates 100 days prior to the 28th Winter Universiade. Over 1,000 students gathered together in front of the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in order to be among the first to hear the main musical theme of the Winter Universiade. During the event, the Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek awarded local cultural figures with Universiade Ambassadors certificates. 21 Oct 2016
Almaty stages Short Track Test Event for 2017 WU On 21 October, the second stage of the Kazakhstan Short Track Cup will kick-off in Baluan Sholak Sports Palace. Almaty’s Mayor purchases First Ticket for WU On 21 October, 100 days prior to the 2017 Winter Universiade, ticket sales for the upcoming University Games have started. The Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek was one of the first to purchase a ticket for the Universiade at the ticket office right in front of the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace. 21 Oct 2016
