Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan inspects Readiness of Ve... ALMATY - Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 28th World Winter Universiade 2017 Imangali Tasmagambetov has inspected the readiness of venues in Almaty and the Almaty region for the forthcoming international student competitions. During his inspection, I. Tasmagambetov visited Halyk Arena - 3,000 seat stadium, located in Medeu district of Almaty, the Athletes' Village, Almaty Arena Ice Palace, MKLT Sunkar, skating rink Medeo and ski resort Shymbulak. In addition, he got familiarized with the progress of modernization and preparation of sports and entertainment complex Tabagan and ski and biathlon complex Alatau. 28 Oct 2016

Almaty celebrates 100 Days Countdown to the 2017 WU Today, on 21 October, Almaty celebrates 100 days prior to the 28th Winter Universiade. Over 1,000 students gathered together in front of the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in order to be among the first to hear the main musical theme of the Winter Universiade.
