KUANTAN, Pahang, 9 September 2026 — The 2026 Asian University Table Tennis Championship officially came to a close on 9 September, bringing together around 100 student-athletes and coaches from 10 countries and regions for a week of intense competition.
At the Closing Ceremony, AUSF Treasurer Prof. Ha Woong Yong delivered the closing remarks, after which Mr. Agha Khilfi bin Suarno of the University Board of Directors officially declared the championship closed.
China emerged as the dominant force of the tournament, finishing with seven gold medals in total — triumphing in the men’s and women’s team events, the doubles events and every individual title.
Among the standout performers, HE Ai-Ge (CHN) capped a remarkable campaign with three gold medals in the Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, and was also named Women’s MVP. YUAN Xuan-Song (CHN) claimed gold in the Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles, and received the Men’s MVP award.
Beyond the medals, however, the championship carried a deeper meaning. It not only provided a valuable platform for technical exchange among university student-athletes from across Asia, but also deepened the friendship between young athletes from different countries and regions, who were rivals on the table and friends off it. Competing with passion and mutual respect, the players embodied the spirit of unity and shared progress that lies at the heart of university sport.
