The 2026 Asian University Badminton Championship recently concluded with great success at the Taipei Gymnasium. Over five days of intense competition from June 10 to 14, a total of 126 athletes and officials from 11 countries and regions across Asia gathered for this prestigious event, showcasing exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
The championship was conducted smoothly under the professional guidance of Mr. LOU Kit Long (Macao, China), the AUSF CISCA Chair and Regional Representative. Distinguished AUSF leaders, including Vice President Dr. TSENG Ching-Yu (Chinese Taipei), Secretary General Mr. SEETOW Cheng Fave (Singapore), and Executive Committee Member Mr. Suzuki Daichi (Japan), also traveled to attend the event.
This year’s edition made history by introducing the Mixed Team Event for the very first time. Powerful university teams from Chinese Taipei, the Republic of Korea, and Japan delivered outstanding performances, sharing the gold medals across the six categories.
Host Team Shines; Korea and Japan Secure Doubles Titles
The host delegation, Chinese Taipei, delivered a spectacular performance on their home courts, capturing 3 Gold, 3 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals. They claimed the historic first-ever Mixed Team gold, while TSAI Hsin-Pei won the Women’s Singles title, and the duo of LIN Chih-Chun and LIN Sih-Yun secured the Women’s Doubles crown.
The Republic of Korea showed great strength in the men’s categories. PARK Seongju won the Men’s Singles gold medal and the duo of SON Hoseong and JANG Jaewoong secured the Men’s Doubles title. Meanwhile, Japan’s AMPO Mutsuki and TAMAKI Aya displayed excellent teamwork to win the Mixed Doubles gold.

A Celebration of Youth, Culture, and Friendship
“The championship serves not only as a platform for elite athletic competition, but also as a bridge for cultural exchange and long-lasting friendships among Asian university students,” stated the Organizing Committee.
As the event closely coincided with the Dragon Boat Festival, the Organizing Committee arranged a special cultural experience before the Welcome Dinner. Participants thoroughly enjoyed crafting traditional sachets by hand. The atmosphere reached its peak during the karaoke session, where delegations from different countries and regions enthusiastically bonded through singing and dancing, showcasing a true celebration of youth and unity.
